Community Projects

Over the years, thousands of residents have benefited from the work of Junior League volunteers, and helping others has immeasurably enriched the lives of those volunteers. The Junior League of New Orleans defines many of its community services as projects. All must be compatible with and support JLNO’s mission, focus areas, values, and core competencies.

A project allows the utilization, training, and development of volunteers and addresses a community need within the focus area. The impact we hope to accomplish is as follows:

•  People’s lives will change as a result of the program, and the project has an evaluation process that supports results.

•  The underlying causes of the community need are addressed.

•  We are able to assess the number of people experiencing the change versus the intensity of that change.

•  Levels of change include knowledge, skills, attitudes, behavior, condition, and status.

•  Other requirements include a defined, viable plan for sustainability and an organizational infrastructure capable of supporting project operations.

Partnering with JLNO

In addition to the Community Projects regularly supported by JLNO members and funding, our organization commits volunteer hours to other area nonprofits needing additional resources.

Every year, Junior League of New Orleans members volunteer over 25,000 hours in the Greater New Orleans area, and a portion of that effort helps other nonprofit organizations. It’s our mission to train volunteers and improve the community!

JLNO’s members have experience and knowledge that make them more effective volunteers and leaders in our communities. Through our volunteer outreach program, our members can share their time, training, skills, and leadership with your organization.

We invite your nonprofit to access the wealth of intelligence, skill, and enthusiasm that our members bring to each endeavor. Volunteer opportunities can be from one hour to a half-day and on a one-time or repetitive basis.
